Sekhuthulile is a video part of an installation which explores chaos, silence and solitude; a reflection of sorts. This video and sound installation was as a result of the #Fees Must Fall protests that took place across universities in South Africa. The installation deals with the uncertainties that many felt, including myself, who was enrolled in one of the universities as an international student at that time.
The video was taken the morning after the streets became close to what looked like a war-zone, with police clashing with student protestors and police raiding a student residence. In the morning after the confrontation between student protesters and police there was an uneasy calm. In a sense a ‘calm after the storm’.
